AI-native, in plain words

What is AI-native personal finance?

AI-native personal finance is a money app built from the start to work with AI, including the AI assistants you already use, rather than a chatbot added on later. You stay in charge: the app shows your numbers, and what you do about them is up to you.

Finsplore is an AI-native personal finance app for Australians. It brings your accounts, spending, net worth, goals and plans into one clear view, and is built to work with AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude. Finsplore Connect, the part that connects those assistants, is coming soon. Finsplore is read-only, cannot move your money and gives general information, not financial advice.

What does AI-native mean in a money app?

An AI-native app treats AI as one of the ways you use it, not an extra screen. Your accounts, spending and goals are kept in a form an assistant can read accurately, permissions are part of the design, and a change an assistant suggests waits for your approval by default.

It does not mean the AI makes decisions for you. You choose what goes into the app, what an assistant may see or do, and what happens with your money.

How is that different from an app with a chatbot?

Some apps add a chat window that answers questions inside the app. An AI-native app is also designed to work with assistants outside it, through an open standard such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so you can ask about your money in the assistant you already use.

What does agent-native mean?

Agent-native is how an AI-native app works with AI assistants, which are sometimes called agents. In Finsplore that is Finsplore Connect, coming soon: an assistant such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or Claude, or any app that supports MCP, will be able to read your Finsplore data and suggest changes to Finsplore's own records.

You choose what each assistant may do, a change it suggests waits for your approval by default, and you can disconnect an assistant at any time.

How does Finsplore fit?

  • Today: import your bank statements and see your accounts, spending, net worth, goals and plans in one clear view.
  • Coming soon: Ask Finsplore, the assistant inside Finsplore, will answer questions about your own numbers in plain English.
  • Coming soon: Finsplore Connect, for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude or any MCP assistant, with changes waiting for your approval.
  • Planned for a later release: direct bank connections through open banking (the Consumer Data Right).
  • Made in Melbourne, and free during early access.

What Finsplore does not do

  • Move money, make payments or change anything at your bank. Finsplore is read-only.
  • Give financial advice or recommend financial products. It shows general information about your own numbers.
  • Make decisions for you. What to do about your money stays with you.
  • Let an assistant go beyond the permissions you give it. Moving money and making payments are not available to assistants at all.

What to check before you connect an assistant

Once your data reaches an assistant it is handled under that company's terms and may be stored outside Australia, so check the assistant's own privacy settings before you connect it.
